Reflection 2 (The Selection of Materials)
The selections of the materials for our syllabus are
based on current trend or issue. Most of the teacher nowadays is using the
internet to find sources for their teaching. We utilized the internet sources
and improvise it so it will be suited with the activities that we have come out
with. We use videos which we believed can help a lot to maximize the learning
process. Some of us learn better while watching something. These people fall
under visual learner category. We choose to download videos from youtube
because it is very easy to get and we can download it for free which is very
financial friendly. Our course is meant to help our students and we don’t
charge them at all. So we need to try to cut down the budget. We also adopt and
adapt some of the exercises from books and internet journals. It is very
convenient and easy to get because there are thousands of interesting article
that can be useful that we can take from the internet.
The videos and sounds such as the songs that we have
chosen is not a complicated materials. Which means the students can easily
understand the message and be able to cope with the activity. The materials
that we have chosen are intended to enhance the students speaking and listening
skills.
In conclusion we hope that all of the materials that we
have gathered will be effective enough to help us to achieve the goal and the
objective for each lesson. Hopefully we will be able to fully utilize them and
help to maximize students’ learning process.
Critical
Reflection 3 (Reflection of Progress)
The progress of developing the syllabus is smooth and we
don’t have too much trouble dealing with it. We managed to finish the whole
mapping and come out with suitable activity or task for each topic that we have
chosen.
We already sort out all of the materials that we have
gathered from the internet with specific task. Each material will be used for
their intended purposes. We use power point presentation to deliver the lesson.
It is a very popular medium that has been used by most of the teacher nowadays.
The students can understand better and can cope with the lesson easily since
they might have been exposed to it before during school level.
We have discussed with each other on which material will
be best to suit with each objective of the lesson. It is a vital process
because we need to be able to understand how can we utilize the materials and
can manipulate it to the maximum level.
The process of sorting the material and try to link it
with the objective of the lesson can be tricky but with a proper plan it can be
done easily. We don’t have much trouble in agreeing with each other ideas. We
also sometimes agree to disagree with each other which I think is healthy
because it is part of making a decision.
In conclusion, the process of developing the syllabus
has come to an end since we already managed to sort out the goals and
objectives with suitable activity using suitable materials. Hopefully it will
help the students to enhance their skills through these activities that we have
come out with especially their listening and speaking skills.
